Kenneth is currently principal of St. Ninnidh’s Primary School, Derrylin, Co. Fermanagh. He previously served for 8 years as principal of St. Brigid’s National School, Redhills, Co. Cavan. This is a mainstream primary school with special classes for children with Autism.
Kenneth received his Bachelor of Education from St. Patrick’s College (DCU). He also holds a Masters in Teaching & Learning, a Post Graduate Diploma in Educational Leadership, a Post Graduate Diploma in Special Educational Needs and studied on an advanced Diploma in Law & Education.
Kenneth has previously worked with the Department of Education as a mentor, facilitator and an associate for the National Induction Programme for Teachers. In this role he advised and supported schools with induction of newly qualified teachers. He has worked as a research supervisor to 3rd level Masters students in the areas of teaching and learning since 2012. Kenneth delivers formal professional development support to newly appointed principals as a member of the Centre for School Leadership on behalf of the Department of Education. He is a member of the Global HP K12 Advisory Council which is led by Hewlett Packards Worldwide Education team.
Kenneth’s school was the lead in Schools Excellence Project in Digital from the Department of Education and Skills in Ireland. The project ‘Creative Problem Solving and Digital Education in 21st Century Teaching, Learning and Assessment’, comprised of five primary schools. It encouraged creative problem-solving through abstract, environmental and physical mathematics, through the use of technology, mathematics in the environment and robotics.
He has served as principal of two schools that have achieved Digital Schools status.
